Komol Cup (Big Size) is a locally known freshwater fish found in the rivers, ponds, and wetlands of Assam. While the regular Komol Cup is medium-sized, this larger variant can grow significantly bigger, weighing up to 2–3 kg or more in ideal conditions. The name “Komol” (meaning soft in Assamese) refers to its tender, flaky texture, which remains intact even in larger sizes.

In Assamese cuisine, the big Komol Cup fish is a favorite during family gatherings, feasts, and festivals, where larger portions are preferred. It is commonly prepared in dishes like
